Why? Not complaining at all. Crawfish app was $4.00- $5.00 a # when I checked last friday. Now seeing $2.50 in the BR area for large. $2.25 a # in the Henderson area.

I'd imagine the mild/non existent winter means the farmers are catching more than expected, saw a place with live for $2.50/lb, same place was $3.75/lb same time last year.

I saw a place locally that had 5lb boiled for $42, not only does that seem absurd given what other places are charging but that may be the most expensive 5lb of crawfish I've ever seen advertised.

It's crawfish season and supply is high and demand hasn't caught up

Lots of early crawfish this year. For example, we started fishing on 1/22 last year and caught 4 sacks. Caught 45 sacks today, down from 62 sacks on Tuesday. Been fishing every day except Sundays since 1/1, over 16,000lbs caught. Price is expected to fall again on Monday.

We typically don’t catch well until February. We’ve been catching for a month now

Not sure. This is year three for me. I didn't start until 2/1 in my first year. Mid January is a normal start with 1/4lb per trap from good farms. The labor arrives in the first two weeks of January and starts setting out traps.

Good. They were too damn high at the beginning of the season. Went to one restaurant and they were $7. I didn’t get any crawfish that night.
