quote:

Proposed law prohibits the sale or attempted sale, marketing, or purchase for sale of live crawfish
for direct human consumption that are smaller than 3-1/2 inches from the tip of the rostrum to the
rear edge of the carapace. Provides that any crawfish smaller than that can only be sold for peelers
or for use as bait. Allows a 5% variance of undersized crawfish in each sack

What would be the purpose of this law? Who would it protect? Serious question, educate me on why this should be regulated.

It still allows for sale of 'peelers' if that is what they are intended for but you can't sell them for the purpose of 'direct human consumption'. It sounds like the author got his jimmies rustled with some undersized crawfish at a boil.

Just sounds like more bs regulations. Every time I've ever eaten them, no matter how big they are, there are always a few you could put on a bream hook. Happens!
They need to stay out of people's biness

Eddie is a great guy and as big a sportsman as anyone on this board. He hunts, fishes, traps, runs his own alligator lines, has crawfish ponds, runs catfish lines and is as easy to talk with as anyone at the hunting camp. Not real sure of where he is going with this bill and I do not like any more regulation and feel this bill will get killed quickly, but I also get frustrated pAying $120/sack and getting tiny crawfish

Yep, Sadly there's some in the general public who think this may be an excellent idea.

Eddie sounds like a complete douchebag. Hopefully he won't get elected and spend money on something so stupid.
