We are taking a few kids out to go crabbing on Saturday, and we were curious about good spots this time of year. We have a boat, so we can get Out to locks or weirs

You will find plenty of crabs in Maurepas area. Specifically at BRB, prop stop, or sun buns.

We did decent a couple weekends ago launching at Rockefeller and crabbing at one of the weirs in the Refuge. It's a little over an hour drive from Lafayette.

Thanks. We were considering Rockerfeller. Did you go to the close spots around the landing or to the weirs?

To the weirs on the southeast side, used turkey necks and chicken thighs but didn't seem to matter. We caught 7 dozen in about an hour and a half but culled down to 4 dozen. Nothing huge but a decent medium mix.
