Anyone know where I can score some catfish heads or pogeys to bait 10 crab traps? A # would be appreciated. Thanks.

You should be able to buy a box of pogies at any bait shop.

porgy=/= pogey

Porgy is pretty much a deepwater sheepshead

Capt. Allen's in Chauvin will have some

Honestly i have had the best luck with chicken leg quarters. If you get them on sale you can bait 10 traps for $5. One ten pound bag of quarters usually does it. put one leg quarter in each trap.

We give all our speck bodies to the crab guys, they keep coming back so I think they work.

In Raceland you can get bait across from Central Lafourches FB Stadium. Thats 5 minute ride from Hwy if you coming from 90 east into Houma.

Yeah I've even used beef melt and had more luck with leg quarters. I couldn't believe the leg quarters out performed the bloody melt.
