Covert Blackhawk (Cellphone game cam) reviews/ advice

Bought one of these for my FIL online for xmas as he purchased some new ground recently about 75 minutes from his house. Reviews are average at best, but I wanted a Verizon plan as that's his phone plan plus the better coverage for his area.
Seems battery life is decent at best. Any rec's from anyone that has used one? My uncle has the Code Black and its great but again wanted a Verizon.

We have a code black on our property in Dodson, LA. Works great.
