I'm going next Monday or Tuesday. Guess I will have to go early. How long did you end up waiting? How many people were ahead of you?

I got there at 2:00pm. I was #81. They were on #35 when I sat down to wait. I got called 2.5 hours later. There was quite a bit of people in there.

It literally takes less than a minute to get finger printed. The wait is miserable but worth it if Rod Farva is right.

Do they not have electronic fingerprint capabilities in any parishes around the state or is it just that the LSP can't accept prints from anyone else without extreme scrutiny?

Hopefully it's different now, but when I originally submitted my application 5 years ago, there was one place in my home parish of Webster that was capable of doing digital fingerprints. Even then, I had to drive 45 min and deal w/ the annoying inter-office bureaucracy of the parish correctional center. The prints were still printed on the FBI print card and mailed w/ my application, but at least I knew all prints were technically acceptable. Caddo/ Bossier Parish had the capabilities, but were not very forthcoming about doing it for the public.

I keep hearing people talk about having their prints done at the LSP. I'll admit my ignorance, but what's the process when done at LSP HQ's? Are the digital prints immediately approved or denied? Or are they still printed on the FBI print card and submitted w/ your application to later be reviewed for approval/denial?

No it's all digital. No paper. Probably just gets automatically downloaded into the FBI's database to track us. Didn't even get a piece of paper or anything. Just a "have a nice day"

UPDATE:

Just spoke with LSP CHP department. They said it would be at least 45-60 days before I got the email saying I was approved for a CHP. I'm assuming it'll be a week for them to mail it after that.

My application payment was accepted immediatley after I did my finger prints at LSP headquarters on 8/11/16.

I'm thinking Rod Farva's CHP timeline was a spoof or a frick up on LSP's part.

I went Wedesnday and got the fingerprints done at LSP HQ. (Arrived at 8am and was out by 9:15)
That same day I got the accepted email and paid. I called to ask how long the process would take. Was told 12 weeks for new permit.
Today I got an email saying I was approved and will receive permit in mail within 10-15 days.

Rod Farva was right.

Shouldn't be an issue. You just have to get your rap sheet to turn in with your paperwork. Might cost a few extra bucks.

Update:

I got my "approved" email on Wednesday. 10-15 days before it shows up in mail. My finger prints and application were submitted on 8/11. So 3 weeks to a month isn't bad.
