quote:

Colt CZ shall acquire 100% of shares of Sellier & Bellot for the combination of the cash consideration in the amount of $350 million and a new issue of Colt CZ common stock leading to a 27–28% CBC’s stake in the share capital of Colt CZ Group post transaction.

quote:

“We are proud to welcome one of the oldest and most important producers of small caliber ammunition, Sellier & Bellot, to Colt CZ Group. This acquisition fits into our long-term strategy to expand not only in our core segment of small arms, but also in related areas, with ammunition being a natural complement to our products. We look forward to working with the management of Sellier & Bellot, its employees, partners, and customers, as well as the new opportunities that the connection with Sellier & Bellot will undoubtedly bring to our entire Group,” said Jan Drahota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Colt CZ Group. “We are pleased that CBC believes in our story and our strategy and is to become the second largest shareholder of Colt CZ Group,” added Jan Drahota.

The Guns and Gadgets guy is fearmongering again leading people to believe something is going on with European companies purchasing ammo companies. But this is a Czech business purchasing another Czech business.

Vista Outdoor did sell their US based ammo companies to Czechoslovak Group. They owned:

CCI
Federal
Hevi
Remington
Speer

Is this a sign of some loophole law banning primer manufacturing in the USA?
Hazardous material manufacturing.
Seems like an Achile's heel for gun control - guns can't shoot if no ammo exists.

They have a history of being made from toxic chemicals such as mercury fulminate, barium nitrate, and lead. Lead can rapidly build up in the bloodstream simply from handling the material. Also, the production of lead primers results in the co-production of highly toxic hazardous waste.

Are we going to repeat the mistake we just saw during covid where reliance on foreign supply chains was crippling?

i wouldn't put it past the gov't to give tax breaks to these companies and ultimately banning the importation of ammo and ammo resources as a form of gun control, but what do i know?

I missed that as well, not finding out about it until a few days ago. I'm uneasy about it, but hoping the Czech Group will use this as a ways to expand into the US ammo/component market, NOT as a way to cut back/eliminate Vista Outdoor products.

I love S&B ammo, and coincidentally also love CZ handguns.

To me, while the Vista move is concerning, this one actually is a bit better for the US.
CZ already had a solid presence in the US with CZ-USA before picking up Colt. I think since they got Colt, they're moving to establish a bigger US foothold (they also own Dan Wesson). Acquiring a respected European ammo brand (from CBC, the parent company which is Brazilian) seems like a solid move.

Fiocchi is an Italian ammo brand, they also make ammo in the US. I see no reason Sellier & Bellot doesn't do the same.

SB has been some of my favorite 9mm ammo to buy in bulk. I have never bought any of their rifle rounds like 6.5C or anything but their 9mm has been flawless for me.

I buy a good bit of this brand esp in 10mm but I never would’ve thought the company was worth $350M
