What should I expect as far as a crowd? Where is the best trail head for a newb?

It can get crowded on the weekends. If it's crowding you are worried about go a little further north to sandstone / red dirt.It'still kisatchie national forest. Much better trails and way less crowded. I like the lotus campground / trailhead at sandstone.
