So I need a rifle that I can use in bad weather and not worry about too much. Mostly going to be a meat gun, looking at either 30-06 or 25-06. I know the Savages are supposed to be decent rifles for the price. Any others I should look at?

My cousin just bought a Mossberg bolt for he and his wife. Paid less than $300 I believe. He's gotten 2 deer with it this year

I like my boys Ruger American, but in bad weather it has a 'I'm gonna rust as soon as I get damp' feel to it.

I agree. I picked up a 783 last year during the holidays for $250 I believe and I haven't taken it out of the box. Damn impulse buys are gonna bankrupt me

I need to. Not sure if I want to fork out any more $ for the gun though. I guess I could always put the scope on another gun. I need to find me a cheap Vortex while holiday sales are still going on.

Savage Stainless Package

Really can't go wrong here. Stainless/Synthetic Savage. Nikon BDC Scope. I have one in the non stainless and it's a great gun. Change the mounts/rings and you're good to go.

Actually I have a Simmons Whitetail Classic that I bought a few years ago (another impulse buy) that I could throw on there
