I know it's a long way off but there is something about being in the woods at that time of year that is magical to me. I'm not a big hunter/outdoorsmen overall but I absolutely love being out in the woods in the winter tracking/watching the elusive whitetail. I guess it also has to do with the fact that deer season is the main activity/time of year my dad and I bonded the most growing up. It's the one hunting activity I have the most great childhood memories with friends too although I do have some fond childhood memories of going with my dad, mom, and older brother as a kid to someone's pond in the spring/summer and absolutely wearing out some bream. Those were fun fishing trips as well.

Anyone else itching to go? I hope we have a nice cold winter for it. I don't know how this coming winter could possibly be as bad as last winter.

boys and me went to camp monday and checked catfish traps. saw four deer right past our campers as we pulled in. jumped two more on way to traps. good sign for us but not many on cameras. i am now waiting on oct. 1

also, saw some fresh hog sign. that is good and bad. they are fun to shoot and trap but screws up everything else.

BR baby will be 1 so it's full bore this year. Starting next month fighting the banana spiders webs and dozing the roads, clearing trails, poisoning stands, etc.

Been itching to get a camera out to my primary stand.

I think about Oct. 1st everyday and night. If I'm having a shitty day at work, I just think about drawing my BowTech back on that elusive whitetail.

Every day occurrence at dusk at my house! I love watching them, knowing they will fill my freezer come winter!
