Like, now? Its hot as balls outside, I wouldnt actually camp unless you have a trailer with AC right now? Camping in the deep south is more a winter activity than summer.

Look into Fort Pickens campground near Pensacoula Beach. There isn't much there as far as activities, but the bay and gulf are on both sides and there is alot of bird life around. The fort is pretty neat to explore and it's very nice having huge sections of beach to yourself.

The kids may get bored though, and as the other poster mentioned, the heat might be too much.

Fort Pickens or Suwannee River State Park. Been to both, great places to stay.

I took my kids here as well as the Big Lagoon State Park several times. They really enjoyed both.

I've always enjoyed Ft Clinch. It's about as far north as you can get in Florida, Georgia is right across the St Mary's river from it... but it's also as far east as you can get, because it also borders the Atlantic ocean.

St. George Island State Park.

But personally, I'd wait until October.

I have camped at Blackwater River State Park and it has a nice campground, a nature trail and of course you can float the Blackwater River which is a good float, not very technical, we did it with preteen kids. If the river isn't cool enough you are an hour away from Ponce de Leon Springs State Park, which has a olympic pool size swimming hole and small exit stream that stay in the low 60's year round.

Didn't notice more bugs than south Mississippi and the river was definitely cooler and cleaner than the ones at the house.

Seriously, its not a good time to camp in Florida. Wait until the fall. You'll be soooo much happier. I've camped on the beach in the summer, I've done it all. Its just not great, your wife and kids won't be happy.

You can camp other places in the summer like up north and out west because it can still get down into the 50s with no humidity at night which is perfect.

There's quite a few state parks many that have been listed that are solid in the fall and winter Op. Quite a few south of Tallahassee also. But I honestly would wait to have a better time.
