Any good tent camping places in Florida between the state line, coming from Alabama, and Destin? I called the one in Destin that's on the beach and they want $81.11 a night for tent camping with electric and water. Ouch!

Try Henderson State Park in destin, Big Lagoon State Park in Perdido Key and there is also Gulf State Park in Orange Beach Alabama. There are probably a handful of private ones but they will be much more expensive. State parks are usually in the $25/night range.

81$!!! Holy crap.

Good luck finding something. As bayou said, stick to the state parks.

We used to do Fort Pickens every year, but I don't know if they ever recovered from Hurricane Ivan.

If you want to head a little further east there is Top Sail between destin and panama city and St. Andrews in panama city. ST. Andrews has a nice lagoon and also gulf side beach plus you are right there if you want to do the tourist/bar room thing.

Go to Blackwater river in Milton, FL and do over night canoe trip. Should be running really slow with the lack of rain.

Blackwater State Park and Bear Lake are two options. Adventures Unlimited is another.

Fort Pickens is great, I'm going in July for a 10 day camping trip, and I can't wait to get there. Days on the beach, nights on he pier catching sharks.

I'd also, highly recommend Ft. Pickens. Some of the historical stuff there is fun too. Also, as mentioned, Blackwater is nice if you like to canoe/ kayak.

this map might help

Thanks for all the info. We are looking around for some places. That place in Destin is right on the beach, but too much for my taste.

Thanks Archie! I think I picked up a camping map at the welcome station years ago, but don't know where it is now.

Also, since going to Destin, Grayton Beach is awesome. Has that pretty Destin colored water. Yeah, since you want Destin, I would recommend Grayton Beach.

If you go to the link, the map is interactive. You can click on the parks to get detailed info.

Thanks for the info. We haven't got a set place to go yet, so I'm still looking.
