I just got off the phone with a CHP officer because I will be traveling there for one day in my truck. These are the dumbest fricking rules I have ever heard. Do they expect people to karate armed robbers? Maybe I should carry a large amount of cash to try and buy them off?

In case you didn't know:

Not allowed to concealed carry
Felony for possessing mags with >10rd capacity
In a vehicle, gun and mag must be kept separate....in their own locked containers

To top that off, I can't even wear my pocket knife because the blade is too big. That's another felony too

New Mexico was different, but odd. I either have to have it concealed on me, or concealed in the glove box/console. Can't be in the open in your vehicle, but contrary to LSP site, they do honor concealed carry permits from Louisiana

Eta: The CHP guy told me, "Yeah, it's fricking ridiculous, but it's California. What can you do?"

I've been pulled over here twice with a gun in the open, never had the cop even mention it when they see it.

Yep, that LSP map isn't updated often.

Eh, I'm not gonna chance it. I'll probably get pulled over either on the way there or on the way back. Traveling with my little sister's stuff for college, so I have no doubt I'll be in cuffs if I get pulled over

Whenever possible, stay out of CA. As a friend of mine who use to live in CA says, "It's the home of fruits and nuts!"

What's odd is that most of the state is regular, sane people. I know a couple of people from there and a few who have lived there, and outside of a few areas, they say are normal

google "micro stamping"

For a pistol in cali to be legal for sale it has have micro stamping. Pistols are falling off the approved roster everyday because the manufacturer changes the slide lock or trigger, and then has to be reapproved but it doesn't have micro stamping so it isn't approved.

never heard of this before.

After googling it, it seems it would be ridiculously easy to defeat.

Just get a new firing pin from a non compliant state, or take the micro stamped firing pin to a bench grinder for a second or two.

I'm sure doing so is illegal, but if you want to shoot someone is that really what you're worried about?

That's the point. It is effectively outlawing the sale of new handguns is cali. For something that could easily be defeated. The chamber is suppose to have a stamp as well, but a barrel replacement nullifies that. Also, their isn't a firearm manufacturer that has the capability to do this.

If you ask me it's a backdoor gun ban.

How does micro stamping help the problem of criminals using stolen guns to commit crimes, and then dumping them afterwards?

Wouldn't that just create a huge hassle for the original owner?

It doesn't. How many criminals you know go buy a new gun before they plan a murder?

Little by little this country is taking away firearms.

My grand kids won't be able to buy a firearm if this keeps happening

This is not entirely true. New Mexico honors resident permits from Louisiana, but not resident-alien permits. Therefore, it is not a reciprocal state in the legal sense, so the LSP website is correct. A state cannot honor some of our permits, they must honor all.
