I broke my neck 2 years ago and was told the same thing for only 6-8 months though, but only had 1 major surgery. You can pretty much outfit most rifles to reduce the recoil to next to nothing these days, take it to a gunsmith and have him deck it out.

thanks guys. I am thankful I am still alive. I slipped and fell in my yard and then worked for 3 weeks not knowing I had broken my neck. I have had 2 Drs. tell me I should not be here. I have had to retire from the hospital where I worked. Fixed income SUX!!! lol thanks again guys, yall the best!

Lots of good info on this thread. I'm not a fan of muzzle breaks but in your situation I wouldn't hesitate to put one on a 7mm08 or a .243.

Buddy of mine had to do this over major shoulder surgery. Went AR (pretty sure in .308). Like chooting a pellet gun.
