Looking to get one for small projects like welding patches of sheet metal on my jeep and whatnot. Any specific model that works well enough for these types of projects?

Harbor Freight has one on sale for $109

I'd roll with a MIG welder if welding inside. I believe flux-core welders put out a lot of slag like a stick welder. Haven't ever used one though. If you search, you should be able to find a Lincoln or Hobart 140 for sub $400, which would put you at like $500 total after a big bottle of gas. Big box stores usually offer packages with gloves and helmet. Not sure if regulators come with those brands though.

If you're rarely gonna use it, HF is your best bet, and that welder will work fine. I believe they have a cheap MIG also

Get one that works with gas, you can get a small bottle for cheap.

What are you welding on the jeep? any suspension products? if so, you should probably step up the voltage to 220/240

Nothing like that. Just patching some plate on the body where it's rusting pretty bad.

I have a Miller 211 auto set. It will do up to 3/8" single pass when turned up and hooked to 220v. Planning on buying a plasma cutter later this year and want to get into more light fabrication. I have yet to use my machine with shield gas. Been running it with gasless wire which does ok but is a bit dirtier. You can get a stick welder pretty cheap. D
