Never done something like this before. What paperwork do I have to do for the sale, registration, etc. ?
Are campers typically insured?

If you are in Louisiana you will need both title and registration and pay sales tax. Check with your vehicle insurance about the camper being insured while attached. You will need separate insurance if a tree falls on it or it gets stolen.

only those that want to insure it. it's added to your auto policy like a trailer.

are you familiar with campers at all? lots of things to worry about buying a preowned camper if you don't know what to look for.

I'm somehat familiar
I have a few things I'm looking out for.
Is the tax based on the bill of sale or do they look up the value?

Ins will be cheap. We pay a couple hunid per yr. check tire tread and negotiate that. If its 4 tires, that could run you as much as 4 new AT's on the Chevy. Check for water leaks. Test gas lines, water lines and the A/C
You should have it pulled to where you can plug in to a 30/50 amp breaker and give a once over. Dont run the A/C on the cheap 110 adapter!
We bought from Berryland and even though we might have paid $500 more than through a private party I was comfortable with that considering they know what to look for and they sold with full propane tanks and fresh battery. They also sealed the roof(you should do this annually).
Good luck! Happy camping!

Just bought a boat, casual sale between individuals...
Had a marine surveyor conduct a pre-sale survey for $500. Money well spent. Check and see if a dealership will do something similar.
All the different systems were checked out good. Gave us an appraisal which could have been used to secure financing. Guy was very thorough and professional.
