Bushnell hd wireless trail cam help please

Ok I'm just trying to set this camera out and originally just wanted to use it as a regular camera being that the year is pretty much over. Anyone know how to do that?
Also I put my number in the camera and set up an online account, and downloaded the app, but I haven't paid for any plan or anything. I followed all the steps listed and when the camera goes to send a test photo it takes and says its trying to send and the view screen goes black. It says this is normal, but it's suppose to say it couldn't send if it doesn't work, but the screen just stays black. I figured it wouldn't work because I never paid for a plan, but I would think it would notify me that the pic couldn't connect to send.
Anytime I just switch the camera in the on position the screen is just dark and nothing happens. The setup menu and screen seems to work fine. I know it's probably me not understanding. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can bring it to get someone to help me set it up?

A payment is required for them to send the pictures to my phone, but it shouldn't be required just to use it like a regular cam?

I don't have the wireless trail camera, but I have 5 of various other Bushnell HD trail cameras. The screen shuts off on all of them when you switch the switch to on. That is when they are armed. If you have the cam set up, and an SD card in it, you should be able to walk around in front of it and get some pictures of yourself. Turn the switch on the camera to OFF then, and pull the card. The images should then be on the card.
