Were borrowing a friend's RV and heading to Buffalo River in October for some camping. We want to boondock the RV in a secluded area rather than an established campsite. Something with a view or near the river would be great. Some of us will sleep in RV and some will tent camp.

I looking for anyone with experience in the area to suggest a good spot for us to use for the weekend. Your secret is safe with me.

It’s a national park, I’m pretty sure it is illegal to camp anywhere but designated camping areas

I've been many times, but only camped on the shoals of the river during a multi-day trip. I believe the designation is National River and not National Park, so the "National" part only encompasses the river and its flood plain. There is a lot of private land around the river. I could be wrong, but I think the only RV camping you'll find is the designated campgrounds. I'm familiar with mid/lower river, so that would include Tyler Bend, Gilbert, Maumee, and Buffalo Point.

Is this park...

National Forests - Department of Agriculture
National Parks- Department of Interior

?

Vast difference in terms of where you may stay and how friendly they may be.
eta: Rangers are they US Forest Service or National Park?

Erbie Campground is located 7 miles down a gravel road off of Hwy. 7 north of Jasper, AR. The campground has 14 drive-in campsites and 2 walk-in campsites, each with a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook. The drive-in sites are suitable for RV or tent camping but the campground has no hookups, no running water, and no dump station. All sites are available on a first come, first served basis.

I'd think a campground with only 14 sites would be plenty quiet.

What activities are you hoping for? You won’t find boondocking like out West, I recommend JB Trading Co in Compton, it’s pretty quiet there and really close to two trailheads.

The Buffalo River NP campground has some spots right on the water. Be prepared for absolutely not phone or data service there. We was there a few years ago and loved it.
