Needing to buy a brush cutter (handle bar style) for some extensive clearing (brush, trees, etc over 2ac). Looking at FS 360 by Stihl. Everything else I own is Stihl but having hard time justifying $1K price tag. How do others (Husky, Shindaiwa, Troy Built, Echo) stack up in performance and reliability? Unless I'm missing something similar specs in each is significantly cheaper. Marketing make up that much difference or I'm I missing something?

Currently have Kombi 90R and like it, but it not powerful enough for what I need.

Rent a self-propelled one that has a bushog deck on the front. Should make quick work of it

I have the Stihl 240 and it was worth every penny. I use it to clear shooting lanes in hard to reach areas and I haven't found a situation where it's felt underpowered. I barely ever run it over half throttle. It cuts through 3" trees like grass. Same engine as the one you mentioned, but a lower pricetag. You won't be disappointed.

Would love to but nobody around here rents those anymore. Said they were a liability and didn't get much use. Plus with the brushcutter I'll have it long term for continual clearing.

Good to know. I'm making such a huge jump in power from what I'm familiar with it's hard to know how much I need vs what's overkill.
