So my wife, who is from Baton Rouge, made the wise choice to marry a Ville Platte boy . She doesn't understand why I duck hunt 3-4 days a week (she doesn't have a problem with it either) and said she would never be caught dead in a blind. It must be her pregnancy messing with her head but last night when she told me she wouldn't mind me taking her duck hunting to see what its all about. She found out one of her female coworkers hunts ducks so now she wants to try it. She has never taken her hunter safety course. I just want to double check to see if she can come but not bring a gun? Just sit in the blind with me.
No pics of wife will be available. Sorry.

Yes, you can only shoot your limit though.

I would advise against. I went down that road once. 1st trip was excellent. Girl shot the gun a couple of time, even brought down a bird with a wing shot, the spent a good bit of the rest of the time making the hunt a lot "warmer". Took her again, after the excellent time she provided, and she spent more time that time actually hunting. Then a disturbing patterned developed. Each time I was going hunting, she expected to go.

Also, don't bring more than 1 gun in the blind with you.

Well like I said she is pregnant, next season someone will have to watch the baby. Of course hopefully that someone isn't me while she is out hunting .

I's actually my brother-in-laws blind but he doesn't hunt. He just gets it because he doesn't want to lose it. So I'm the only one that hunts it. Word got out and now I have friends I haven't spoke to in years that are calling me asking for a hunt.

If your timing, those harmones might add up for a real fun hunt.

I would not plan too many trips unless you're willing to stock up a huge backlog of brownie points ahead of time!

Been there too!

You also could get her an apprentice hunting license, where she doesn't need to take hunters ed, but must be be under the supervision of a hunter who as taken the course.

With it she could bring a gun, or at least you can shoot her limit too.

That's the plan.

Probably wont be able to stay till noon but she'll let me at least make quick hunts. We are having a boy and she wants him hunting and outdoors and not stuck playing video games. So if it does cut down my hunting time now it will be wide open later.

Wasn't aware of this. Just buy it at the store like a normal license?

Yep, its just a regular hunting license you buy, but without the Hunter Ed number on it you just have to be with another person that has it.

The top two paragraphs under "who needs a hunter education"

or online. My oldest girls (7 and 9) have deer tags.

I will add, I brought my wife hunting one time when we were dating. I waited until it was 28* or so and misting rain/sleet with a stiff north wind(this was based upon advice my uncle gave me). She hasn't asked to go back since. Been 13 years or so.

It's not advisable at all to shoot near a pregnant person. There's not a way to protect the developing infant's hearing, and it's super susceptible to loud noises.
