Need recommendations for a long sleeve work shirt that won't have me sweating my arse off. Preferably something button down. I was looking at the Columbia Tamiami as a starting point. TIA

Seersucker? It's about as cool as you can get as far as fabrics you might find in a long sleeve buttondown.

LL Bean has a few.

Sounds like somebody doesn't want the boss man seeing their full sleeve tattoos

Hope you're not working in Louisiana, because you're shite out of luck.
If you're doing any of the "work" I think you'll be doing, Columbia shirts probably ain't a good idea. Get you some cheap dickies from the Walmart and call it a day.

You going to be working outside?

Hot work?

Need flame retardant clothing?

You going to be getting dirty?

Just something casual?

I'll be outside but I'm not doing the dirty work. Just a lot of being in the direct sun.

If you're working outside and will be using them everyday just buy the $15 Magellan fishing shirts from Academy. Cheap good work shirts.

If you're working outside in south LA, you're fricked either way. Embrace the sweat and drink water.

I guess I'm going with this one then
I'll swing by academy after work and grab a couple Magellan shirts

yup, I use them for hiking boating, working in the yard, etc... but if you need collard shirts, Nike, UA, Vineyard vines all have performance fabrics in nice shirts.

I drive my Jeep most of the summer, no doors or AC and have to wear khakis and a button up to certain accounts. it gets hot. Vineyard vines and Nike both have some long pants in the performance fabrics as well that work great

If you want something fancier, Peter Millar makes shirts that feel like fishing shirts but look like normal collared shirts. Crown Sport

Also can't go wrong with the Ex Officio Air Strip LINK

I worked out in the sun a long time.

I always wore a full brim hard hat
A bandana on the back of my neck
A long sleeve shirt, Magellan will be okay, make sure they have some type of SPF factor.
An under shirt, I buy the cheap russell athletic ones from Wal-Mart.

You don't see people in the desert running around with short sleeves and pants. Got to keep the sun off of you.

Most fishing shirts will fit the bill. However depending on the type of work, they are very prone to snagging and ripping. Some are more durable than others.

FWIW: When I go on West Texas dove hunts (HOT AF) I wear the 511 Tac Lite shirt. It's a bit heavier, but still vented/breathable and very durable.
