Get a boat and you can get away from people in sherburne. Thistlwait stays pretty crowded bc how small it is.

I see so many deer in there close to the roads, it's ridiculous.

I've hunted really close to roads in MS forest land and have done well. There are a lot of spots that people don't hunt because of how close it is. I went to sherburne and hunted off the levee about 10 years ago and saw 4 people and zero deer. During bow season is it really crowded as well?

It can be crowded with people with cross bows and 22's trying to get hogs in bow season/squirrel season.

(And I go by boat, go far, go to nasty places as well).

Thanks Jason Aldean.

Damn. It looks like i'll be going by boat then. If i leave my boat tied on the bank of big alabama or little alabama what are the odds that some baws mess with it?

Man, this will be my first year deer hunting (bow) Sherburne, but I squirrel hunted a little and duck hunted out there. I've got areas scouted that I will walk in at and areas that I will take the pirogue to.

And I've seen a ton of squirrel hunters at the boat launch before too.

I have every other friday off so i'm hoping i can miss some of the crowd on friday mornings.

I've done a bit of leg work off of little alabama.

I've never had issues with my boat in sherburne (I don't leave anything in it though of real value it).

I will say that there have been plenty of days where I won't see anyone, too. During the week, even better.

The hogs are the truth. I was scouting Friday walking on a road that was grown up and walked within feet of one before we saw each other. I heard a bigger one that sounded like it smelled me and got the hell out of there.

They need to open it up year round.

My dogs pointed hogs within 150' of a road in December last year. They are smart, they just lay up and wait for dark to move around

Had one at about 10 yards before he saw me Saturday morning.

Shame they won't open it up.

I think they're smart, too, but they're so many, you come across them almost every hunt out there.

If you want to share notes some point I'd like that. I hate walking in all the ferns there this time of year where I can't see the ground to watch for snakes.

Only the north launch so far. I haven't been around much, just walked an hour or so here and there while fishing.
