I need help interpreting this mess that is on LA wildlife and fisheries website. I have a 16 ft boat that is registered in MS and I am getting out of the camp there so want to register it back in Louisiana. The boat was originally bought in Louisiana and paid cash for so I have the title for both the boat and trailer. My question is I see that we now have to have a title for the motor according to the form? Trying to figure out if all I need to pay is the $28 registration fee or if I have to pay title fees as well. And is there a transfer to new state fee?

I had a boat I bought in Louisiana before moving to Florida. After moving back to Louisiana, I believe all I paid was the registration. I also had a permanent sticker for the trailer and still had the license plate and had them just assign that back to the trailer.

Motor title is optional. Makes selling to a person out of state easier as most states require a title on outboards.

No

I did this exact same process couple years back with a boat that was originally purchased new in La. I dont recall what fees I had to pay but they were not much at all. Then went to the title place to register the trailer.
