Well it reads like he tried to do his best as far as climbing to radio and then descending back down to find the kid again.
And he only claims to have seen one of them .

Ya, that is true. But even then, the coast guard should have been out there within the hour looking over that area like a hawk

You can bet your arse they took the potential sighting very seriously. Who knows what the pilot saw in the water. Hate to say it but his story really doesn't make too much sense.
