as in Calcasieu?

we fished all day sat and most of sunday with only one rat red caught either day. No one we talked to was catching any fish at all.

Damn that' sounds awesome. But with a guide your chances of getting on the fish went up big time. Wonder how all the other random fisherman did since you say you didn't see anyone else catching.

I've always wanted to fish big lake.

I have a 2200 Pure Bay. Will travel.

I'll have Saturday off. I think I'll make a trip then if I can get someone to go with me.

I love Big Lake...some of the prettiest trout and reds I've seen.

Man I'm fired up for fishing this year.

Sounds like you fished everywhere except 2 places I've heard good reports . They've been catching reds on the east bank and in WC. I waded joes a month ago and didn't get a bite.

And yeah...pics would have been appreciated. Have I seen reds and specks before? Sure. But I haven't seen these you speak of.

well we were technically fishing the east bank across from Texaco cut but only a short segement of it. the report we got from other fishermen late on Sat was that West cove was dead too.

We saw no baitfish anywhere. and I mean none. We waded a ton and never even saw small pods of mullet running away. Interestingly we did find large amounts of baitfish at 15' balled up in the river.

This is my least favorite time of the year to fish BL by far. Just started wading not long ago so hopefully that will change

So far all I can gather is they caught reds by the weirs, which has been just about the only place I've heard of people catching reds now.

Weirs for the Redfish..they stacked.

Trout are in deeper water.

We threw into 30 feet and worked the bait back to 5 feet.

It's the same guy I fish with all the time..he guides part time.

I caught more than he did and showed him 2 of the spots..

I fished BL over 100 times in the last 3 years.

Yes Lambert BP..You have to go through the weirs with your boat..use extreme caution!
