Big Foot Speed Switch

Have a 70# bow mount, hand controlled trolling motor.
Wondering if the switches such as the Big Foot that control the speed on/off are worth it.
Anyone have one ? Pros? Cons?
Any preferred brand, have been told they don’t hold up so well.
Would love a new one all together with all the bells and whistles but that’s not in the budget for now.
TIA

I have one on my hand controlled trolling motor, would not have a hand controlled without one.

Agree with this. I will say my experience is they usually last 3 years or so (saltwater use, stored outside under cover) and the contact gets crapped up and doesn't work.

This is what I've been told. Hard for me to see it making that much of a difference but it seems to be the consensus.
Any particular brand better than the other? I see a few different ones on the market.

I like my Bigfoot for my hand controlled TM Mine have lasted five years or so before the contacts get corroded
