I lived near the Cascades for the past two years and just recently moved to Kentucky. All I keep hearing is how there is "no good skiing" this side of the Mississippi.

I know there's nothing like out west, but I'm looking for the best spots to grab some powder so my form doesn't get rusty.

Any suggestions? I've heard Snowshoe, WV is pretty legit...

I don't have any ski input for you, but if you find nothing here maybe try the Travel Board. There is a Ski Season thread ongoing.

Snowshoe is the best in the Mid-Atlantic area, by far.

Snowshoe/Silvercreek (one resort) are your best bet. The other decent mountains would be further away in VT, NY, and PA.

Don't expect any fresh powder - at least not the kind you're thinking of.

I skied Loon Mountain in NH years ago. It was after a decent storm and several cold days so they were able to make snow. While it won't get confused for anything out west, it made a great day trip to get in some turns.

I imagine Snowshoe is similar.
