My nephew from Florida is in town and has never been redfishing. I'd rather not drive 4 hours at 3 am, but I am willing to trek it a bit to fish a currently good location.

If you lived in Lafayette and wanted the best location and guide you could get, where would you go and who would you call? Money not really an object.

At a minimum this time of year you'd have to go to Big Lake., the Point is so hit or miss I wouldn't even waste my time or money.

My brother has been smoking the crabs and shrimp at the point. They caught a few reds after, but like another said, the point can be super iffy.

I had a great trip with Captain Travis Lovell in Dularge about a month ago. He can put you on reds or trout.

I'd go to Dularge.

Marty Lacoste
Travis Lovell

Both really good charter captains. It's an easy 2 hr drive from Laf on 90.

Yeah, though it's nice and close, I just don't think it will be productive. If I'm spending money on a charter, I might as well drive a bit farther.

Was on vermilion bay today- I’ve never seen it so muddy and full of fresh water.

Big Lake would be your best bet in my opinion. It's only an hour and 15 min away. Can also snag some flounder as well.

Well where’d you go? Looks like Dularge area but I’ve never fished west of Lost Lake so...

Good deal, great to see y’all got on them. Bill and his guys are great bunch and know that area better than anyone. Great pic, good looking kid and a toad bull.
