Add some salt to the water before you freeze it and you'll have some seriousness in that Yeti.

I have an ice machine now but this is what I use to do. You can use them several times

An ice machine is something I've always had on my "want but not need" list.

The best are the plastic bread containers. U can stack them vertically in a freezer. When ready to remove, u can run warm water around the edges or let sit out for a little while. They will slide out easily. About the size of a snowball block

those are all good ideas. this is the problem I have with making block ice. I want to stockpile them before hand. I have the perfect thing to make them, bread bins, the problem is what to put the blocks in.........i guess I could save bread wrappers but they are way longer than needed. they would fit in gallon ziplock but that is overkill. just something to keep them from sticking together in the freezer while I make more.

Got it in Monroe at a place called trinton, street appliance. Bought it second hand because someone needed a bigger one. Don't think I could live without it now

We use kitty litter containers, the big plastic ones with the handle and lid. Toss the lid and fill it up 3/4 of the way. Block ice is great in a large fish box.
