I need to add two cheap setups for my boat. I have some newer fisherman coming with me this weekend and I don't want my good setups to go overboard. Looking for a decent setup for specks and reds that won't break the bank and I won't cuss them up and down if they lose or break them.

Trying to stay under $120ish.

Shimano Sierra with a Abu Garcia rod, I think the vengeance is the one in your price range

Songes in Houma has Ugly Sticks for half off, pair that with an H20 Optic bait caster from Academy and you have a decent setup for un $60.

Idk the boards opinion on them but I'm addicted to the Lew's combo. Right around your price range and they haven't failed me yet. I have 6 of them.

Penn Battle or Penn Fierce. Have both and have been very pleased.

A piece or for 2 combos?

You can get some damn nice combos for under $120 each.

Under $120 total, so 60 a pop for the combo. I have a penn pursuit II that has done well, I may get two more of those on an ugly stick.

Pfleuger President is another good tell option alongside the Sahara.

Here is a good option if you don't mind Walmart.

Yeah I have the Penn Pursuit II, what is a good rod from academy? Ugly stick is an option. Are the H2O rods any good?

Lew's combo
I'm very close to trying one of these. Nice looking white combo at Academy for $140 is calling my name.

Ugly sticks are rugged rods, but not really great in terms of action and fell, to me.

Looking online I see a couple of possibilities that look like good rods.

daiwa laguna

all star rods classic series

In terms of rods, I do not worry too much about freshwater/saltwater classification.

ETA, The original link is a combo

If you can find this combo at your local Academy, I am a big fan of Okuma products.
