With your budget and requirements, I would recommend either a Sea Pro, or a Pathfinder. There are alot of good hulls around with newer power in that price range.
Sea Pro

Pathfinder

Other than the unsinkable factor, whalers are pretty shitty in pretty much all other respects.

Good recs there too.

If I were shopping now...and shopping used...I'd look at Blue Wave, Blazer Bay, Sea Pro, and Pathfinder. Seems to be a lot of them out there, so finding one shouldn't be a problem...and they all get good reviews in general.

Also, just FWIW, not sure where the OP is located...but there is a 22 or 24' Ranger CC for sale in Houma right now. Sitting out in someones yard on the way to Dularge...very nice looking boat.

Good advice, all. I do like those IM shows in the previous pix. Too many choices, eh?

Jordan, I am actually in Colorado, so Houma be a long drive....

I believe Sea Pro went out of business, however some of their designers started up Tidewater. Was at the NO boat show yesterday and the Tidewater was my personal favorite.

Yes they did, but they were great hulls. I believe Trophy bought the molds and are covering the balance of the hull warranties.

I was about to say...after going to Tidewater's site and looking at the picture of the Sea Pro above...those hull designs look A LOT alike.

Pathfinder's are great but they are going to be a lot more expensive than any of the others listed. The Blazer Bay is the same hull as the Pathfinder and you'll get better value.

I'll add in addition to the Blue Wave and Blazer Bay I would add Frontier, Nautic Star, and Sea Hunt to the list. They are all great value boats with good reputations. There are plenty good boat makers out there other than those listed but your gonna pay $$$$.

If money wasn't an issue...this would be my choice:

but alas, that's just the one that caught my eye at the boat show yesterday.

Those 24 ft Everglades are nice but they are more of a cross over style of boat. Kind of a boat that's too big and heavy for a strict inshore use but not a true offshore boat either. You can't really take em in the shallows like some other 24 ft bay boats but they are suppose to be great in the rough stuff.

Great boats.
