My baw is getting married on 12/4 and I’m the best man. I’ll be responsible for heading up the bachelor party. We are older, so the strip club, bar thing is a little past what we would like. Is October/November a good time to head down to south LA and catch specks and reds? I’d also appreciate some captain references. I grew up in south and central Mississippi, so I don’t know a thing about saltwater and brackish fishing. I know the Outdoor Board always pulls through. TIA.

Perfect timing. Call Bill Lake. Bayou Guide Service in Du large. Great accommodations as well.

That’s a great time to come. Trout should be moving in the marsh and the shrimp will be coming out.
I’ve been with captain jakamo and had a blast. He has a camp down there as well.

Thank y’all. Would October or November be better? And also keep the capt recs coming.

I’d say mid to late October but it’s obviously impossible to tell what the weather will do this far out. November could bring some cold fronts that mess up the fishing for a bit.
Either way, both months should be good.
Johnny Sanchez is another guy who runs with Capt jakamo.
How many people would it be?

Pick a weekend of a big State football away game. Fishing in the morning and then watching football is underrated

Charlie Thomason with bayou charters is another guy who can host groups but he seems to stick to the inside of Hopedale for redfish.
This is all guides on the east side of the river, btw.

Bow fishing is something that I haven’t considered and I’d have to look in to. Thanks for the option, though, Tigah!

October is a big transition month for trout in the dularge area. Those guides are generally catching reds in October. Now there are no rules written in stone about this but you can check all those dularge guides past la sportsman posts from October and it’s gonna be redfish. Mid to late November they are smashing the trout. There is always the threat of a front coming through and messing up your trip but that’s just a risk you take.

I’ll throw out another name for your consideration - Capt Brandon Ballay, Venice
Outdoors. LINK

Married to my niece, he grew up in charter boat fishing business, his parent’s owned Venice Marina before they retired (if I recall correctly). His brother Brent is also a full time charter boat captain. LINK

How many people are in your party? The number will matter if booking a charter

There has to be some sort of "smells like fish" joke in there somewhere.

This is a great idea, though. Wish I had some advice. That time of year is usually good though. Have fun baws

If you aren't looking to go to strip clubs or be at the bar until 4am I would stay at the Silver Slipper and fish the Biloxi Marsh (Louisiana waters/limits) with Shore Thing Charters. They have multiple boats to accommodate the size of your party and assuming the weather is good you will wreck shop in the Biloxi marsh in October with them.

I would do Sept/ Oct in Grand Isle. All the fishing you want inshore or offshore. Grand Isle is the most complete beach town in Southern LA. When you're not fishing there are several marinas with full bars, plenty of restaurants, the beach, full grocery store. Late in the summer, the trout fishing is still good. You can do bow fishing trips out of GI. Flounder is really good that time of the year. You can stay on the beachside or the bayside, rent a water slip at several locations on the island. There are other towns that have good fishing but you won't have much else to do while there.
