Have a Yamaha 350 from late 90s, still runs but burns oil and is stuck in 4 wheel drive low, cannot shift in reverse. I want to use it strictly to get me to the deer stand and back, over a levee through some water & mud, nothing major. Can someone recommend a reliable guy around BR to get the transmission back to serviceable condition? TIA

I don't have anyone near BR that I could recommend but have you considered cost to do such work? If it is indeed a tranny issue then any shop would most likely have to pull the motor and split the cases, you're most likely looking at 10 hours of labor minimum.

It's probably not just the transmission. More than likely the clutch is toast also. Pretty pricey to fix for one that old. I'd just get a new one or get a decent used one. You will come out cheaper in the long run.
