Looking to get a new winch cable after mine broke. I had a standard steel cable but it was very old and frayed and finally broke. I was looking to get a synthetic cable but was talked out of it bc i was told that they will end up rotting in they're constantly in mud and water. Are there any other options other than the synthetic rope? i don't mind the standard steel cable, but hate getting stuck by the small fibers when they start to fray.

My 2009 Polaris Ranger has synthetic on it and I've never replaced it. Still in great shape and I use it several times a year, one morning last year I used is 6 times before I ever made it to my stand.

Been having synthetic on my bike for 5 years now. After I use it in any type of mud/water, I spool it all out and rinse with clean water from the hose at the house. Let it dry then spool it back up

I have been using the same synthetic rope on my winch for over 8 years without any trouble. My bike stays in the mud/water during hunting season.
