Anyone have any input on this contraption? The reviews are about 50/50. Seems that you either love it or don't due to battery life and software glitches.
Im building a 300 BLK for hog hunting and will mostly be hunting at dusk/dark so the day and night modes are a huge factor. All the other crap it does would just be lagniappe.

Figured Id see what the OB has to say before I drop the coin for it.

I haven't seen this one in use but have seen some of their thermal imaging scopes in action and it was pretty impressive. The video quality was better than I thought.

I do a LOT of night hog hunting (I have a Night Optics D740 and a Flir RS64)and just recently purchased a new AR10 and a Sightmark Photon XT scope. So far the Sightmark is my favorite, it is a little cheaper, about half the weight of the ATN you are looking at and it also comes with a built in illuminator.

Sightmark

I will check it out. Thanks for the input.
The allure of the X-Sight was the day and night modes so I can use one optic. But im really just getting picky here as I could use the BUS if I needed.

Wow, I had no idea night vision so cheap. The picture of the coyote in the OPs link, is that an actual image?

Which sightmark Photon do you have? What does the built in illuminator do?

I looked through this guy's scope the other weekend who had just your standard green light mounted on top of it. IIRC, it was a Surefire, but it worked well out to 100 yards. I think he said he paid like $150 for it

I have the XT 4.6x42, the illuminator is pretty good on hogs out to about 125 yds. you can get an additional illuminator to extend that range to 150-175 yds but I usually like to get within 50-75 yds when stalking a large group of hogs.

the green lights tend to scare off the wildlife, I know they advertise that they cant see it but in my experience it has spooked them several times. and a hog is much easier to kill when they are standing still.

This sounds like the route I may go. Im not shooting past 125 and all the other stuff the X-Sight has would never get used after the initial newness factor wore off.

Armasight Zeus would be my go-to thermal optic. The ATN Thor seems awesome as well. Zeus has amazing reviews as well.
