Yea there probably won't be many people fishing this weekend. ????. Bunch of mfers who go once or twice a year. Bring your chair to the boat launch and watch the follies take place.

There aren't many amateurs launching boats into the Atchafalaya spillway.
More like amp on some meth before you get to landing because everyone is in and out of the launch within 12 seconds. You will get laughed at for a 20 second launch or trailer loading.
Also the fish are biting.

Which launch do you frequent?

Sorrel public launch.
But I imagine they are all same-- spillway is for pros; you can't not know what you are doing there.
I guess there are exceptions. I admit to having seen one or two but uncommon. It's not like being at, say, Warsaw marina or prop stop.

Go one launch south... There's a reason why while you're launching you see boats coming from up river.
Idiots show no preference to geography and travel exceptionally well together.

Ha. I've been to the pigeon launch.
I did just realize I could cut across to the main channel through bayou tensas from that launch.
Would be crazy but doable. maybe. Probably an extra thirty minutes tho on the ride. Painful in winter.

Don't waste your time unless you are into sight fishing. You can see the bottom all over the lake. Water is falling too fast. I heard sorrel area too, which makes sense, but I would have thought lower area would be good too. Fished Sat, it only needs a few more days and the water to settle down.

Fishing pressure will not be bad, even with the Spillway dropping. It seems when August comes around there are less people, it falls off when Football and Hunting cranks up.
There's a ton of "bad" water throughout the Spillway, will have to find some good water.

Ive heard the same. That if you can see your bait get up and move to the green water and they are stacked
And I agree with Atchafalaya's post. When I was a young lad, I was so nervous launching at Belle River spillway side because of all the huge boats and how fast people got in and out. Made me very good at backing up and launching

Caught about a dozen sacalait and 5 bass on Sunday in Henderson. That was only a 4 hour trip. A lot of boats on the water.
