I'm not going to shoot one but a buddy of mine said they were legal.
I thought you had to be disabled or something to use them during bow season

Still can't believe the BSBA lost that battle.

Yep. 100% legal for anyone.

Yes. Able bodied grown men can legally shoot a crossbow
Just make sure you wear your blaze pink when a gun season is in progress

I've got no problem with it.
If it gets more people hunting, that's a good thing.
Nobody is forced to use a crossbow. Everyone is free to hunt how they like, no harm in that. I'm sure the guy shooting a recurve with his fingers is making comments about how guys who shoot 70% let off, trigger releases, sights, stabilizers, whisker biscuits and such should wear blaze pink.
To each their own. The important thing is that people are out there enjoying the woods.

quote:It doesn't. It just gets the same people hunting in the early season that would not take the time to learn to shoot a bow.

Don't you ever get tired of being contrary?

Not at all. It just seems that you prefer to disagree with most people about most things and enjoy getting people worked up.
Posted on 8/25/17 at 10:17 am to DownSouthDave
You are picking and choosing to fit your narrative. I have no desire to work anyone up. I just enjoy calling out bad posts. Yours was a particularly bad post. I post plenty of cheers and bows.

It was not a bad post. Breaking down my post sentence by sentence and replying with eye rolling emojis and one word responses is hardly "discussion".
I'll say that you're right, crossbows probably only gets people who hunt in the woods earlier. But that's not a bad thing.
The rest of your responses are just lazy.

quote:Agree to disagree. Who in the hell thinks anyone is forced to use a crossbow? That was just dumb.

No it isn't.

Nobody. Taken in context, it means that opening up the law to allow crossbows doesn't mean you have to use a crossbow, just that it's an option. If you're not forced to use one, what's the point in caring who uses one? It doesn't affect you, so don't worry about it.

Seems lazy to me.
But I'm done. I posted here to share my opinion, not to be the next person to waste a day arguing with you.

So let's just open up rifle season October 1. If you don't want to use a rifle that's your choice.
Let's open up hunting at night too. It's cooler and more people would do it if they could go at night. We don't want to inconvenience the working folk with having to take vacation to hunt. Let them hunt at night.
Also, to get more people in the woods we need to do away with trespassing laws. God created these forests for man, not for THE MAN. I should be able to hunt wherever I want. More people would hunt if they didn't have the hardship of a lease payment or traveling to public land.
And on those public lands, lets allow people to set up their box stands and padlock them so nobody else will hunt them. More people would hunt if they didn't have to pack a climber back in the woods.
And lets allow ATVs all through the woods during deer season on WMAs. More people would go hunting if we all had equal access to the place. You can still walk if you want to, but let's not inconvenience the neck beard mouth breathers with that walking stuff.
