Arborist Thread: transplanted orange tree

Just moved a 3 year old orange tree from my old house to a new one about a mile away. When I dug it up, I dug out about 2 feet around and about a foot deep. The tree is about 6 feet tall. I buried it as deep as it was originally, poured some root stimulator around the base every day for the last time 5 days, and water it liberally every morning and the evening. It's dropping a considerable amount of leaves and looks pretty beat up.
What are it's chances, and what else could I be doing to help given it more of a shot?

Should have done this in winter when it was dormant. It's going into shock. At best you will probably have to wait until next year to see if it took
Read up on those fertilizer tubes, PVC pipe into the ground that goes straight to the root ball. Maybe that or keep doing what you are doing. Don't overwater though. Read up on that too.

you probably should've of pruned it way back. like to 40% of its original size. still could actually.
I wouldn't mess with the fert myself. Fertilizer can do more harm than good in a lot of situations. Imo, it generally makes healthy plants healthier but not sick plants healthy.
