Bapple, what is your suggestion for a long range ar build as far as caliber goes. I see in your first video that you have an upper with a 20 in barrel. Is that chambered in 556 or another caliber? Eventually, I would like to build a long range ar, but don't really know what my best options would be for caliber.

It's a DPMS 5.56.

It would really depend on the cartridge because something like 300blk does not need a long barrel to max out on velocity. Then again, that's not a long range caliber.

So it just depends what you're looking for. 5.56 is definitely the cheapest though.

5.56, 6.5 grendel for ar-15, .308 or .260 rem for ar-10.

As a long time hunter but 'black gun' noob let me just say thank you. I don't know squat about ARs or AKs or Blackouts but know I love shooting them and have always wanted to learn more.

Simplicity is kind of my thing in videos. Getting into the black rifle game can be a bit overwhelming if you don't know what to expect.

Thanks a bunch.

So is what you are saying, that for a beginner, the best bang for the buck on an AR15 would be building one vs. buying, say a s&w m&p15?

Long time hunter, and gun lover, but haven't gotten my first AR15 yet, and do not know as much about them - appreciate the videos!
