Second with the .223 cheaper round platform but if you're stuck on the bigger caliber then you gotta give the Nemo Arms .300 win mag a look. Especially if price isn't an issue.

Honestly, if I were hunting hogs at ground level, I wouldn't use anything other than an AR-10 (.308).

It's a dangerous animal and a clean kill is important to me - if I hunted them I would definitely want to butcher the kills and either store the food myself, or give it to others for consumption. Having to pepper a beast with smaller and/or lighter rounds or have to be extremely precise with hits under hog hunting circumstances would be an added complication.

I have not, but it is intriguing. For hogs, I think larger caliber is smart. I wonder how much of a trade off this is in terminal velocity...
