I googled and came up with several companies selling 80% complete lowers and you finish the receiver.

Is this feasible? Anyone gone this route?

Sorry, did a search and didn't find anything.

If you think you'll be able to machine the rest out go for it. They have guides on how to do it on google.

I think I remember them being about the same price as a stripped lower (could be wrong), so the only incentive to get one would be that it "doesn't exist".

Wouldn't be bad right now though. Have you found any available?

There's at least 20 websites offering...

But have not found the instructions to finish it which they do not provide....unlawful I guess

And then there's the machining and milling to which I am not an expert

I found one a while back that also offered the jigs to finish it. Most of what needed to be done was drilling holes for pins and such. Can't remember the name of it, I'll see if I can find it again.

Yea I'll just buy a stripped lower rather than go through the trouble of cranking up the milling machine

Here

Here is a link to a good tutorial for finishing it with a jig and a drill press. I said this in another thread, but this seems like a really fun project that, as a gun enthusiast, I would really enjoy. But to "them," it's something that only a terrorist would even think about doing.

Build a hot rod in your garage and people drive by to admire. Build a gun and you're a madman.

Can you explain this? I thought the only thing you couldn't do is sell it and maybe cross a few state lines.

Like in stock to buy right now. I found a few sites with them but they wouldn't be available for another 6-7 months
