Just recently purchased a .223 Colt AR-15. Haven't had much time to shoot it so I haven't made any modifications. Been looking at some red dot sights and need advice on which ones are the best to buy. I've done a little research but feel like this is where I could get the best reviews. Not trying to spend an arm and a leg

Primary Arms Advanced Micro Red Dot is pretty damn good for the money.

Yep, on Amazon for $170, and you can get an ADM mount for around $80. Great value in that combo.

May also look at their 30mm Aimpoint clone. I have one and it is fine. Can usually get for under $100 and sometimes includes mount

Check out classifieds on gun boards. Sometimes you can get a really good one on the cheap.

One of Carson's co-workers had one. It wasnt bad at all from what he said. I only got to see it in the shop but it seems pretty decent.

Yeah, I kinda hemmed and hawed before buying. There were some bad reviews but most said it was quality for the price. Sounded like any issues were taken care of quickly by Lucid. Going on my M16 clone. Looks like an ACOG and I don't really want to shell out over 1k for a real one

I have several Aimpoints, a couple of ACOG's, three RMR's, a couple of Bushnell's, a Vortex and some other off brands. I am an optics whore ever since my eyes got old and I can't shoot irons well anymore.

Here is my two cents... If this is a range/plinker/play gun, buy a Bushnell, Vortex, etc and you will be more than happy. If this is your go-to, no kidding going to shoot someone gun then invest in an Aimpoint or other $400+ optic. The money buys you long battery life by virtue of superior electronics and a quantum leap in durability by virtue of case materials and shock/water proofing. But you don't need a safe full of guns sitting there with Aimpoints on them unless you just have money to burn. I have several because, at one time, I had a hook up to get them at a steep discount. If I did it over, I would have a couple and the less expensive optics on the other guns.
