Anyone here successfully grow potted majesty palms in full sun?

I've had 3 potted majesty palms out in the open sun for a few years now. Every year they look worse and worse, and no where near as good as when I picked them out an the nursery. I gather that they are better suited for shade or indoors, so I'm about to give up on them.
