Anyone here familiar with the lafitte fishing scene ?

I haven't been there in a while have been fishing by boat. Does anyone know if they still have the fishing pier that you can fish from land. Haven't been to it in years but I know it stretches into the pen and always was a good spot to fish/crab. FIL Told me he things the people who owned the pier passed away and it is closed. Can anyone clarify?
