My wife asked me the other day what I wanted for Father's Day. So I told her all I really wanted was to get a good frame for the picture of the 7.5 lbs bass I caught back in April. It's the biggest fish I've caught to date, so I thought it would be a good idea. But I'd also like to put the spinnerbait I caught it on in with the picture. He messed it up pretty good, so I figured I'd retire the bait. She mentioned doing a shadow box. I'm familiar with them but never made one.

Just wondering if anyone could share some of theirs so I could give my wife some good ideas.

TIA

I've been wanting to have one made using my dad's old fishing gear - reel, his favorite lures, his old fishing license, etc.

There's nothing like a shadow box to add a touch of true class to your home.

What about in the shop? Cause that's where it's going.

an old roommate I lived with had a coffee table with a glass top with a drawer underneath that was a display case. had all of his grandfathers old lures in it. was really cool.

I have an interest in collecting old bass lures, so for a birthday one year my wife went out and bought a bunch of old baits and made a shadow box with them. It looks awesome and its a great way to display the baits.

That's really awesome. My wife's great uncle gave her a collection of really old wine bottle openers he got from traveling. After doing some research she learned some of them were from the late 1800's France and Italy and an early 1900's German one. I think I have an idea for her birthday now.

I'm working on one right now for a dead mount I've got at the taxidermist.

Similar to this:

Made out of pallet boards. I got the boards cut to size and as soon as I get around to putting it together I'm going to stain them.

I've seen some military honor shadow boxes that would disagree with your sarcasm.
