I have some money to burn and would like to increase my top in speed a little on my bass boat. I have a Yahama Sho motor.

Anyone have any experience with the FXP prop? It is made for the Yamaha Sho.

Or the TXP prop?

FXP

Any increase in WOT speed? Improved hole shot? Did you feel it was worth the money for the new prop?

what type of bass boat / motor combo do you have...

Has your current prop been blueprinted and worked?

What size prop do you currently run?

If the TPX is anything like the PowerTech then you probably don't want it on a bass boat. Those props are more for boats like scooters and tunnel hulls that are running with the motor jacked up out of the water. I don't do any bass fishing but unless you are flying across 8 inch deep flats, I don't see a need for a TPX.

Skeetee ZX200
200 Yahama Sho

I will get back to you on exactly what I have on it now. Just the factory one is all I know. So I was assuming the FXP would be an upgrade.

I would assume it came with a T-1 probably a 24p or 25p on the prop.

Skeeter will be a little heavier hull so the FXP may be the better prop. The FXP will have a larger diameter like 14 3/4 so a 25p will turn a little slower than your stock T-1 prop.

What is your current top end and what RPM's are you currently reaching with the stock prop.

If you have a T1 25p prop you should be able to hit around 5800 and change on your RPMS and should be very close to 70 mph.

Ok, I currently have a 15.125X25 V'Less.

Top speed= 72 mph. Just me, half tank of gas, and fishing gear.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what the RPM was at during this run. I did not even look. So I guess I need to figure this out and get back to you?

you are probably running close to 6K if not a little over. You are pretty much at the limits of what that hull and motor combo will do.

You may squeeze 1-2mph out of an FXP 25.

Well, with a fishing buddy and hopefully a live well full of fish my top end speed should drop by about 5 mph I guess. Might be worth it to pick up 2 mph then.

Full TX load you should be able to run 68-69. The FXP will probably give you a better hole shot loaded down and may even handle better but think 68-69 would be about what to expect. And summer is just around the corner so speed will drop off with that as well.

Yamaha makes a prop specifically for the sho. Guy I work with runs it on his 250 sho, look into that one (the name escapes me at the moment). He is our boat mechanic and knows his shite. His boat does 87mph. He also use to run a T1 and a merc Trophy

- the guys in here are giving some good info. Every boat/motor likes it's own prop depending on a lot of factors. Find a GOOD prop guy and give him your rpms, gps speed, water pressure and boat type and he can work the prop specifically for your setup.
Keep in mind Diameter, rake, pitch, cup, Flared barrel all play into specific setups and that's just getting into the prop side of it all.
