Been kind of in the market for a different truck and found a sweet F250 that someone I guess blew the 6.0 before doing the EGR eliminate and made a gas burner out of it.

I haven't heard of this being done since the old pre turbo models.

Should I run like hell or investigate a little further.

If the engine was blown, do you want to find out what else was ragged on?

Well, in all fairness the 6.0 didn't have the best reputation in the world.

Ding ding. Reputation was earned. Lots of problems with those and that's why Ford changed.

I know where there is one sitting in the same condition, motor is real bad and the rest of the truck is a very nice KR with 77K miles. I think this would make one of the finest trucks around.

Many 6.0's have been "bullet-proofed" (fix the long list of issues they had) and live a long good life... not cheap or legal but it works. If motor was blown many have been swapped to Cummins diesels (if looking to not put the original 6.0 motor troubles back in), but installing a gas engine is unusual.

Had a buddy that got tired of pouring money into his 6.0 so he swapped it out with a Cummings.

In all honesty if a 6.0 is left alone and you don't try to add HP they are decent engines, not the best not the worst.

most issues come up when some dipshit tries to plug in "GAINZ" and drive it like a sports car, or even better sets it up to overfuel and "roll coal"

I know several folks myself included that put well over 250,000 trouble free miles on them, on the other hand I also know several that had nothing but problems, they all ran tuners.

Used 6.0's are probably the best value in the used truck market right now.

I had a 7.3 tuned to the limit with cat delete and the works. I bought a 6.0 and left it stock and it would pull circles around the 7.3.

I had 135k trouble free miles on it when I sold it.

Truth.

I bought one with 170k miles and put another 30k on it in 2 years. Trouble free. Like you said, if it hasn't been chipped, it's a good engine.
