Or even better, if somebody had a nice field , we could do a little OB meet up and shoot some birds , maybe grill some good food?
Sounds like some fun honestly. Everybody be respectful of a gracious landowners property, and there aren’t many Sonics past Monroe, so we should be good there.

But also down to join a group and pay my daily fee.
I’m happy to bring meat to cook, a few dekes, a hidden face, and if you’re ok with a dog on her 3rd season, then a damn we can have a fairly well trained dog.
Black lab, so she will likely be tied to a tree in the shade most of the day.
An help would be appreciated, just looking for a steer in the right direction.

Dove hunts are hard to locate in Louisiana, paying or invite...

I thought Sen. Barham had a big pay dove hunt over near Delhi every year. Not sure if they killed much or even how big of a Charlie Foxtrot it was (or is) but I do know they used to have them.

Sen. Francis Thompson has that one. $250 ticket gets you into the cocktail hour the night before and lunch with the hunt opening day.

It’s a nice farm on the south side of I-20 about 4 miles east of Delhi. The big donors get the good spots.

FWIW - Last few years I went they never asked to see my ticket.

I went to the Francis Thompson hunt a few yrs back. Good lunch, shitty hunt. Too many idiots out there running around on 4 wheelers all day

I go to Francis' about every other year, its $200. I need something out of him right now, so I'm making a donation and going. The hunting is hit or miss, wear your glasses and a hat. Its pretty much WW3 if birds are flying. The years that Gerry Lane drove around Boy Scouts passing out cold beer was nice...

"Hey mister, you want a cold coke or beer?"
"hell yeah son! thanks"

I've said for years that landowners with small pastures/small fields could make more money off of dove leases/hunts than any other kind of hunting.

Yes, especially if someone was able to get a number of small fields in an area and manage them properly for dove. You could dove hunt a good portion of the season and not just opening weekend

We've got a pretty solid field that holds birds fairly well especially early in the season here in Alabama.

I'm not "a voice" that can make a decision for others to join in even with a fee but most of them are old gentlemen set in their ways. In the semi near future I'll connect with the land owners son who I can have more say and freedom with regarding hunts. It's a waiting game and that sounds terrible as my father is 70 now and will Trump my investment in the field for as long as he can to save me money. Of course I appreciate it but I'd like to invite others to shoot the wind with me

Also, what's the breed of an extremely small dove that I've seen in the last few years

It looks like a baby native dove but the are fast as hell

Mexico dove? Is that right?

I thought it was a turtle dove. We shot a bunch of in a field next to the king Ranch. They were little bitty things
