If I wanted to fish north of Hwy 2, are there any good places to put the kayak in? I don't really know the names of the places. Corney? Boatwright?

If you go to the state park from Farmerville I'm sure you will have to drive over Corney Creek, there's a bridge and ramp. The boat houses look good there too but I've never tried them.

I never go on that side by vehicle

Is the fishing about the same over that way? Cause if it'll be about the same, then I might as well stay around the park.

I hear a lot of tournament people say they fish Corney, I stay up Little D'arbonne because I know it. There's a deep bank over there with the channel running close to some docks, might help hold fish in hot weather.

You can Texas rig or Carolina rig the channel edges after the sun gets up. I usually sit on the shallow side, cast out deep and drag it up the bank. Use a Lizard, Sinko etc.

We have also caught them at night on a black buzz bait in grass

The lake has two fingers which feed it Caney and Little D'arbonne, or D'arbonne creek as we call it. The State Park is up the little D'arbonne finger.

I looked at a map of Caney where 2 crosses it, there's a lot more docks there so it may be worth a shot one day. I didn't realize how many there were. Dem bass love a pier/dock and a lot of people put brush piles under them.

My favorite for fishing these is a pumpkinseed crawworm Texas style with a small weight.

Ok, so I'm staying in the "Little D'arbonne" wing. Thanks man!

Yep, I may go check out those docks one day. If the fish are biting by the park though, I'll probably just stay put. Wouldn't try to fix something that ain't broke.

I appreciate all the help. Just trying to give myself the best chance at catching fish when I get there. Never been there before.

If it was me I would bass fish early, late and at night but also put a trot line out near but not in the channel (10 ft or so) and bait it with live bait (if you can find any) or cut shinners.

That lake has some big cats in it and a lot of them :) Ops and Channels

No problem

y'all go to jakes boat dock, the old skatin rink, the old a& w rootbeer, the old rodeo arena, the old school, anything that's old and recently rusted or rotted and pour one out for me.

That sounds like a plan. And I'll probably try to mess around with bream and crappie mid day.

Trash, we are at Sardis Landing.
We fish up to Gills Ferry but usually stay within a mile or so of the Mixin Hole.
Pawpaw fished the Bayou in the 40's and 50's before they built the lake.
He bought the Camp in '72 and we all grew up in the back of his boat.
40 years later we catch fish in the same places Pawpaw won tournaments on all those years ago.

Didn't do too well. Once I started learning the lake, I was having a little bit of luck.

Caught a bunch of bream off the pier. This was about the average size. Small.

Found some decent sized cats

And some not so decent sized cats

By the time I started figuring out the bass, I only caught 2 decent ones. One on the white buzzbait in 10 feet of water by some trees early in the morning, one on a junebug trick worm in the afternoon right by the pier.

Enjoyed the heck out of it and will go back in spring during the spawn!

Looks good, it's a lot better in the spring when it's not so hot.

I've been in some crazy storms up there also.

Glad you liked it

No problem.

Put those bream alive (like in the picture) on a trotline out by the channel and you will catch 20 + lb cats Op's and Channels. If you want them
