Shot the state test for LEO'S last week. Used a glock 27. Majority of test shot within 7 yards. 3 and 5 are shot with each hand unsupported. The two misses were at 25 yards. The score was 90 out of 100.
I've shot a pistol less than ten times in my life. I took the enhanced Carry class earlier this year and been to range five time since then. I've got a long way to go. I drop the front sight some although that habit has gotten better. I might be hitting the target but the groups are not tight at all and I think they suck. I shot this under same conditions under an LEO range instructor.
And this test is considered to be real easy.

That little guy. I wouldn't worry about that little guy.

Not too bad. It looks like you have an anticipation issue because of the rounds in the lower left. Work on that and your groupings will improve.

More the front sight. When I move up to head shots at the range, I tend to shoot better. Haven't even gotten around to double taps or other more realistic shots in practice. Just been learning the basics.

If you need a tutorial on proper form and shooting, this is what I teach my students in my classes:
Handgun Accuracy and Proper Technique
My teaching may have changed a tad since then but for the most part this is still the main points about grip and trigger control.
You're doing good for being a beginner though! Most guys think handgun shooting is as easy and rifle and shotgun shooting. It is an entirely different animal. Keep up the good work!

It's 90 out of a possible 120 score not 100.
Keep practicing. Need to get yourself some snap caps and let someone watch to see what you are doing before the shot goes off. Like posted above front sight, front sight, front sight.

This particular test is 100. Its HCSO. I've seen the scores for the other deputies and their targets. The ones that shot 100 got every shot in the gray area.
My coach watched me and didn't say anything until test was over. He said my thumbs were too low and should have been a little bit higher and tighter by the slide.

A dummy round may help you diagnose any recoil flinch
load the dummy randomly in the mag and when you fire it, pay attention to whether you are flinching in anticipation of recoil
glock 27 can bark pretty good

Thank you for this. I am having issues shooting a new P938 accurately. Everything is low. I'm going back to fundamentals with it and this helps jog the memory.
Nice 92FS. I bought a compact 2-tone recently and set it up with a similar Streamlight. I have no problem shooting it accurately.
